Preserving The Power Of Democracy
Trump and some in the GOP are making an unprecedented attack on American Democracy. Using propaganda to excite an unsuspecting base, the effort is to undermine the popular vote and the American election system.
As a reminder, the current popular vote counts are:
79,816,557 Joe Biden with 51.08%
73,781,603 Donald Trump with 47.21%
Margin of victory for Joe Biden 6,034,954 3.87%
There is no evidence Donald Trump can prove he won with this margin of victory.
However, there is the Electoral College and those swing states giving Biden his electoral victory. The margin of victory?
Biden 306 Electoral Votes
Trump 232 Electoral Votes
Margin of victory 107 Electoral Votes
To change the election results, there must be a showing of widespread voting irregularities or fraud.
Trump and his legal team are making claims of widespread voter fraud but in court they are signing a different tune.
Simply stated the legal teams are backing off the fraud allegations and making claims of small irregularities. These claims will not change the massive results showing a Trump loss.
Trump is lying to certain segments of the public for political gain. There is no concern for undermining the legitimacy of our election system.
The effort to overturn the popular vote is flagrant. The efforts to subvert the will of voters unpatriotic.
What is most concerning is not the lack of patriotism, but the lack of confidence in American voter’s choices and the willingness to supplant the will of an individual over the will of the collective strength of the voter’s decision. The election is being attacked on an egomaniac’s belief that he should win, regardless of the consequences. His will is more important than the voting population. Moreover, he is willing to do anything to impose that will regardless of how the people think and feel in making their decision though the ballot box.
Isn’t this the stuff dictatorships are made of? Isn’t this a flagrant unpatriotic attack on American Democracy? After all, Biden won the Electoral College 306 to 232 winning the popular vote nation wide. In 2016 Trump won the Electoral College 304 to 227 losing the popular vote nation wide.
