On the one hand, Donald Trump says he told his staff to stop the testing. On the other hand, he says he was saying “stop the testing” in jest, and that testing is really a two edge sword. Here is how Trump puts it:
Trump also continues to hold indoor rallies crowding people together without following the rules for protecting people against the Coronavirus. He shows no understanding of how the virus spreads. This is the Trump politics of Coronavirus.
Dr. Anthony Fauci is saying the next two weeks will be crucial in slowing the surge of the coronavirus. Moreover, he has described coronavirus as a wildfire. Science appears to be at odds with politics.
There was one message coming from Donald Trump encouraging the reopening of the economy and restoring things back to normal. In his message, Trump discounts testing, proclaiming testing’s double edge sword is not helpful in controlling the coronavirus or accurately reporting the number of new cases.
Taken in their entirety, Trump’s statements on the coronavirus are being made to win votes without regard to protecting the American public’s health interests.
Scientists and medical professionals, on the other hand have consistently told us that we are still in our first wave. Moreover, the US is seeing drastic spikes in infections.
Testing helps determine whether we are seeing new cases. Moreover, new hospitalizations support what the professionals are saying-we are seeing new infections at a significant rate. The professionals encourage taking action to stop the spread…face masks, social distancing, and a gradual return to “normal” if the virus slows.
The Republican/White House message appears to be “we need to take the risk, we need to return the normal, we need to restore the economy.” Moreover, restoring the economy is worth the risk of infection and possible death. Therefore, the benefit of putting the economy on track is worth the risk of infection, illness, and death. In fact, many Republicans believe that restoring the economy at almost any cost is the only choice.
Only time will tell us how severe the impact of the Coronavirus will be on the American population. If there are drastic increases in infections between now and Election Day, Republicans will pay the political price.

All the president is, is a glorified public relations man who spends his time flattering, kissing, and kicking people to get them to do what they are supposed to do anyway.
